So - just as Jon suspected, AT&T is not willing to do anything for me about my broken phone. They told me I have to either buy a new phone from them (which requires you renew your contract with them for another 2 years to get any deals on their phones), switch carriers, or get the phone fixed. After this disappointment we took my phone to a repair store which just proved to me more disappointing when they told us it would cost 140 dollars to fix the phone. NO THANKS!! Now we are going to be searching to see if we want to switch carriers or if we have to suck it up and stay with AT&T. I will keep everyone posted - for now Jon and I can both just be reached on his cell. Arrrrhhh to the cell phone companies - why do they have to make things so complicated!

hmmm Craigs list post...some people update to the latest greatest phone every two years and have perfectly good ones laying around. Maybe you could buy one...or at Verizon when Ava broke Nick's phone they had a whole stash and just gave us one from that.
OK, there's this quote from Lethal Weapon 2 where Leo Gets - played by Joe Pesci - keeps screaming about all of the sectors of society where you (the consumer) get screwed by "the man". Included in his rants are references to the drive thru at fast food joints, cell phone coverage, and more.
The quote about cell phones goes something like this: "Oh, you see? You see what they do?.. They fuck you with the cell phones!"
'Nuff said.
Also, building on what Sam Hofer said, I have an old cell phone that is perfectly functional that you could use if you like. Maybe it could be reprogrammed for you by the company.
